My family and I went to Tahoe to celebrate my birthday and decided to rent a cabin. The cabin was very clean and stylishly decorated. The location was good and the hot tub was also a nice bonus. I would like to make a few suggestion to make our stay more enjoyable. The cabin is way too dark, more lighting is needed. There was no hand towels for kitchen, pot holders or dish soap. My biggest complaint was that there was no working telephone. We had spotty cell phone reception and if there was an emergency we would be in big trouble. There were two phones in the cabin and two phone jacks that did not work. I tried extensively to get them to work and no luck. It shouldn't be that hard. I think a working phone in Tahoe is a must.

Very nice house for a small family. Rustic but beautiful interior, comfortable beds, and nicely appointed. Love the nice quiet neighborhood and setting.

We really felt like we were locals living in this house for 5 days. Quick morning drive to the little market for coffee and groceries.. easy to get around and see the town from this spot. The house was great, so modern yet rustic and still had the feel of a lodge or cabin. I can't say a bad word about the house or city!

This little cabin is beautiful, perfectly located and very comfortable. The kitchen is great despite the small refrigerator and lack of microwave. It was a wonderful time!

We enjoyed our second visit at Sunnyside Cottage and plan to make it an annual tradition. It's the coziest cottage and we feel at home.

We had a great time in this little cabin during a time in Sunnyside. This cabin has a traditional cabin feel with wood panel walls and the stone work that is done through out. It has a masculine decor with a "hunter's cabin" feel to it. Every square inch of the space is used very well to get the most out of the home. The hot tub and the grassy play area were a big hit with the kids. The home location is about a 7 min drive to downtown Tahoe City, which is nice for going to the store and shopping. The home is also very close to the bike trail and a park that has a play structure, and tennis courts.

No microwave
Small single person coffee pot
Couches are very uncomfortable
Dogs in the neighborhood are kept off leash and not very friendly with other dogs.

The place was beautiful and meticulously designed but was designed for small people. My boyfriend who is 6'2" kept hitting his head and sometimes really hurting himself. He would have to duck to not hit his head on the pans hanging from the ceiling and then hit his head on the stove hood. Same with the light over the table. There were only two of us. I couldn't imagine having 4 people there. There were not a lot of places to store clothing like closets or drawers. The coffee maker was very basic.

The casual but high quality of the finishes and fixtures in the home made our visit highly enjoyable. The scale of the interior spaces is intentionally small in comparison to other homes, but it added to the ambiance/comfort. We will plan to rent it again when we return in a couple of years.

It was nice. A little small for us but very beautiful setting. We were shocked that there was no microwave! We had left overs from cooking the first night and were hoping to reheat the leftovers! Also, we weren't fans of the sofas. Very hard.

Swanky modern-primitive mini-lodge.
The hot-tub surrounded by Pines,
The gourmet kitchen and animal skin sectional sofa and steel and antler chandelier all made for a unique and wonderful escape.

Cutest lil' cottage!!! Has everything you need for a fun stay in the North Lake area. And, dogs are welcome too! Which is a huge plus for folks vacationing with the whole family.
Super close to town, skiing, hiking and the lake. Great property at a great price. Would definitely stay again.

Overall we were very pleased with our stay at the cabin. The neighborhood is clean, quiet and close enough to town for getting something to eat. The seating could be improved as we found the sofa to be uncomfortable for any length of time. A small microwave would have been convenient for heating left overs. We would definitely recommend this cabin to friends. Thank you.

We loved our stay - The cottage is wonderfull and charming, with a lot of attention to detail.
Some constructive feedback: We were suprised the cottage did not have any wine glasses and only 5 coffee mugs. Also, if you are a reader, the lighting in the living room is not adequate. Way too dim for evening reading.
There are a lot of free roaming dogs in the neigborhood, so a lot of dog-poop in the yard. Watch out if you bring kids who want to play outside.

At the last minute, on a Saturday afternoon, I was able to make arrangements to rent this adorable and comfortable Sunnyside Cottage. My husband and I were impressed by the beautiful craftsmanship in the house and enjoyed the hot tub and the proximity to great restaurants. We will definitely come back.

Our Sunnyside cottage was gorgeous. Especially enjoyed the outdoor hot tub under the stars. It was conveniently located and very beautifully landscaped. The rental company was very anxious to make sure that our stay was all that we hoped for. Great vacation!

on 01/02/2013

Nice little cabin - perfect for 4-6 people, though it will accommodate up to eight. Beautifully appointed inside and very nice garden/eating/lounging area outside. Good hiking (Tahoe Rim Trail) nearby. Quite location within walking distance of the lake, but sheltered from Highway 89 noise. Dog-friendly (though we didn't have dogs). Nice clean hot tub.

on 01/02/2013

Sunnyside Cottage was a wonderful place to stay for our week in Tahoe. It was very near Tahoe City. It was in a great location that was near the lake, grocery store, and restaurants. The beds were super comfortable and the hot tub was nice. The cottage was very clean and well taken care of. We had four adults and a dog for the week and space was sufficient. There were just a few picky changes that could have made it a five star. Being from the South, we expected air condition and there wasn't any. (We didn't think to ask about it). The mini coffee pot only made two cups at a time, the towels were well used, and the couches were extremely firm. It would have been nice to have a microwave. However, we loved our stay and are already planning our return trip. We had a wonderful time! Tahoe is beautiful!

The cabin is solid, strong and secure. The design and decoration are first rate and a perfect example of the "Tahoe" style. The kitchen was great if you like to cook and "eat in." The beds were very comfortable, sheets, towels etc.. were great! Tv and internet worked fine too! We enjoyed the very peaceful stone patio with nice gas grill, hot tub, comfy furniture and nice landscaping. We found the location to be very convenient for many activities. The home is off the main hwy.(quiet) and the neighborhood seems to be more permanent residents than rentals. The West shore and generally northern area of the Lake seem to be less commercialized than the South shore area. This area is not full of high rise casinos and fast food restaurants. Very relaxed and easy pace. Nice selection of local bakeries, shops and restaurants with excellent food. Two things I will mention that are not negative, but I think worthy of noting: 1. The stairs to the loft bedroom are quite steep and narrow (anyone kinda large or unstable on their feet would probably not want to plan on using the loft) and 2. as is clearly stated in the cabin info...there is only one shower; again, not a negative, just something to consider when thinking about daily necessities. One bonus, especially if you are a dog lover, is the pair of large chestnut dogs that occasionally visit the cabin. They are by no means a pest or intrusive, they are just the most gentle, adorable dogs you'll ever encounter. Our teenage daughters were disappointed if the dogs did not visit when we returned to the cabin after a day enjoying the lake, rivers, and mountains. Basically we were 100% satisfied with every aspect of the cabin and the rental companies prompt and easy correspondence. We fully recommend this cabin. It exceeded our expectations!

We always hoped to stay at this amazing cabin and we were so thrilled by our experience. The owner, who is likely, also a master carpenter/architect, did such a great job in maximizing every square inch of the cabin, so you fell like you're in a much larger place. I was blown away by the craftsmanship and eye for design. So comfy and I love to cook and was so impressed by the vast selection of cooking gear. The hot tub is lovely and the cabin sits up high, so you feel like you're up in a tree house. This cabin is our favorite place in Tahoe and we will be back. It's always sad to leave such a wonderful place...

on 01/02/2013

Very comfortable layout and nice amenities. Granlibakken was great and very close for our young boys to saucer the hill! Rustic pine motif. Great functional fireplace. Only thing missing was a microwave, but it was nothing the Kitchenaide oven couldn't remedy. The Wandering Labradors were great fun. We will be back.

on 01/02/2013

Our family enjoyed this cabin immensely. The location was perfect, close enough to the ski resorts and grocery stores. If you are wanting a true cabin experience, we believe we experienced it. We would definitely go through Tahoegetaways again.

on 01/02/2013

My Wife and I rented the Sunnyside Cottage with another couple for the Christmas Holiday and it was perfect. The cabin was recommended by Beth at Tahoe Getaways and everyone loved the space and the location was ideal. The service by Beth and the team was top notch as always and we will be renting again soon!

on 01/02/2013

The pictures of the cabin were spot on. What a well crafted Tahoe cabin, cute in every way. It was small but our family of 8 fit in quite well. The kitchen was well equiped and the sleeping accomodations were more then adequate. Another visitor mentioned the roaming dogs, yes, their were two Golden Retrivers but they were very friendly. We would definitely rent this cute Tahoe style cottage again.

We had a great time. Can't wait till next time.

on 01/02/2013

Really wonderful place. The house is very cute and rather upscale. Great location and neighborhood - nice walks along the creek. The kitchen could be a bit small for a larger group. There are friendly neighborhood dogs around, which for us was a positive.

on 01/02/2013

This was a great place for my family. The house and yard are beautiful, and the location perfect. The only downsides were the broken hot tub cover (difficult to open and close) and the large dogs that roam the neighborhood. The dogs seemed friendly, but I didn't trust my 2 year old to be out around them.

on 01/02/2013

We had a wonderful time. Our small but darling house was completely remodeled and very comfortable. The hot tub was set at the perfect temp and ready to use when we arrived. The garden was immaculate. The home was just a few blocks to Sunnyside which also was a nice surprise!! We look forward to booking another home very soon. Last but not least, our reservation takers were helpful and check in was easier than expected! I highly recommend Tahoe Getaways!! Debbi DiMaggio, Partner/Realtor highland partners, Piedmont, Ca

on 01/02/2013

The cabin was really comfortable and we didn't feel like we were missing anything from home there. However, the only reason I didn't rate the stay 5 stars was the hot tub: 1) It wasn't very clean 2) The tub needs a walkway to it, its not fun stepping onto bark when getting out 3) The tub also needs a ladder, and not just a big rock to step onto when getting in/out.

on 01/02/2013

This is an absolutely adorable, charming house that is very true to the pictures posted. My friends and I loved it and really enjoyed our stay there. It was well equipped, comfortable, cozy, and was really well done. Totally loved it! I thought the service from Tahoe Getaways post-rental could have been more customer oriented and friendly, I've experienced better with other rental agencies in the area and I was not impressed with them. I felt it was a disservice to the house because the house itself is a fantastic property.

on 01/02/2013

I stayed for 3 nights of solitude and quiet. It's an adorable cottage for a couple or small family. The master bedroom is up a flight of very narrow, steep stairs which would not work for people with access concerns. The master bedroom is in an open loft. There is a sink and toilet upstairs, but no shower, so privacy could be a problem if too many adults try to use the cottage.

on 01/02/2013

This place is what I expect a cabin be. Very beautiful, very romantic. Decorated perfectly. We couldn't get the heated floors to work though. Also the internet wouldn't work. Also, the most important flaw to make note of is that the water heater had barely enough heat to accommodate one person. We were two people and had to get out of the shower quickly because the water would get cold. It states that 8 people can stay there. There's no way they can all take showers. Huge issue if you ask me, especially after a long day skiing in the cold. The jacuzzi was hot and perfect though, we made use that for sure.

on 01/02/2013

I rented the cabin for a week of fun with old college friends and we were delighted to find such a clean and up to date place with much "Tahoe Charm"

on 01/02/2013

The house is perfect! like a fairy tale! In a gorgeous surrounding, close to Tahoe City and the best skiing resorts. and so beautifully decorated! so stylish! We were 7 adults (European size :) and didn't find it small (it said so in the review). The jacuzzi was very nice too after skiing! The only little issue is that the ramp to the house might be a bit tough if there's snow as it gets icy in the night. So make sure to clean the pathway at the bottom. The agency service was very good. We arrived late but it was very easy to get the key and leave it back, all well thought of. We had a problem with the lock and they came and fixed it very quickly. All extremely easy and nice. And also conveniently in Tahoe City check Dave's for rentals, in front of the agency and Rosie's. The stay was the best we ever had in Tahoe! no doubt we'll repeat!

on 01/02/2013

We cannot say enough how fabulous our stay at Sunnyside Cottage was. The cabin itself was described as very small but was perfectly adequate for 2 families of 4. We did not find it too small at all. The furnishings and decor are superb, it is amazingly well stocked in the kitchen. Hot tub was on and piping hot - scenery was stunning - we never ventured out after a day's skiing, perfect to stay in, chat by the cosy log fire. Only comment would be it does not have a microwave - fine that it doesn't but would be handy to know before you got there but other than that cannot fault it - would highly recommend, loved it!

on 01/02/2013

Loved this cabin and the location! It was the perfect cabin for our small family, 2 adults and 2 boys. Although it's on the smaller size - the floor plan and furnishing were very well thought out and it didn't feel crowed at all. The kitchen was very well equipped and fun to cook in. It decorated perfectly - simple and rustic, no "cheesy" cabin feel to it. Would definitely stay in the cabin again. The only draw back was that the yard is not fenced in and the neighbors let their big dogs run loose (all day and night) and while they are super friendly dogs (and I kind of felt sorry for them), we didn't feel comfortable letting our small boys play outside while the dogs were in the yard, which was often. We are thinking of buy a cabin in Tahoe and this would be the exact look and location we would want. I highly recommend this cabin for a family vacation.

on 01/02/2013

We LOVED this rental. It's a small place but is very smartly laid out and well appointed. It had everything that we needed for our ski weekend. We were 15 minutes away from Squaw & Alpine and 5 minutes away from town. The hot tub was hot and ready for us upon our arrival. The bathroom fixtures were nice (loved the heated stone floors!) and the kitchen was great! It had everything that we needed to cook great meals and the dishwasher was a definite bonus. It was also wonderful to have the washer/dryer (esp to dry towels after the hot tub) and everyone had down comforters & pillows on their bed. We would definitely rent this place again and I recommend it to anyone looking for a place in Tahoe.

on 01/02/2013

Great Atmosphere and cozy setting for a tight group of friends or family. The hot tub is critical.

If you have never been to Tahoe before, this is what you're envisioning - an upscale, tastefully decorated yet rustic cottage/cabin. When you open the front door, you feel like you've stepped into a beautiful 1920's lodge that has been upgraded to today's standards (e.g., heated stone floor in the main bathroom, WiFi, upscale kitchen appliances, hot tub in the yard, etc.). This is an extremely cozy and comfortable place with tons of warm wood, a stone fireplace and an ideal location - right down the street from the Lake and within a short drive to the key ski resorts like Alpine Meadows, Squaw Valley and North Star. The king bed in the master loft is very comfortable (and, having the half bath up there is a great idea). Also, having a washer/dryer in the unit is a real plus. A few constructive comments - this home does not have a microwave; the coffee maker creates only 2 cups per use; there is no garage - so, in the winter, be ready to deal with a cold/iced car in the driveway; and the electronics could stand to be upgraded (small TV, ancient DVD player and WiFi that needs to be reset about once each day). These are minor issues that the owner can fix without much additional investment in the home. We found them to be minor annoyances - especially compared to the overall look/feel of the home and location - by far much more important than these issues. Lastly, I wanted to comment on the vacation rental company that manages this property. They were outstanding! From the moment that we contacted them about our interest, right through to the check-out, they were very accommodating, professional and informative. I especially liked their reminder emails while we were staying at the home - like the one reminding us of garbage removal day. We will be renting from them again - no doubt! And, recommending them to friends and family. You can't go wrong with this home - especially if you want the quintessential, quaint Tahoe experience in the perfect location.

on 10/02/2014

The house was great. Good location. The only thing I would caution is that one or some of the area's residents have dogs that roam. May not be ideal for young children or dogs that don't get along with other dogs.

on 08/17/2014

Very uncomfortable furniture in living room, very hard queen bed downstairs, no storage/dressers for clothes, no screens which prohibited opening windows, very cumbersome spa cover and hot water heater was not sufficient for four guests. Awesome location and very cute cottage design.

on 07/21/2014

The property was as described and the location was perfect. A very quiet neighborhood with a very comfortable and picturesque outdoor sitting area. The Cabin was not large but met all our needs.

There are a few items that could be attended to to improve this property and bring it up to a 4 star rating. The beds, upstairs loft and downstairs queen mattresses and pillows are well worn. The general cleanliness was lacking, needing a thorough cleaning. The stove top and oven were not properly cleaned(i.e. grease platters). The BBQ outside was filthy, overflowing drip tray and dirty grill. There were only two bath towels, one hand towel and two wash clothes. Not enough for a place that sleeps 8. Several dishes were not properly cleaned. There was no sponge in kitchen.

An easy walk to Fire Sign for breakfast and dinner at Sunnyside Lodge is highly recommended. Outdoor patio for morning coffee, afternoon drinks or a soak in the hot tub was awesome and these features is what may just bring us back!

on 07/07/2014

Conveniently located to Tahoe City and West Shore within walk to lake and Sunnyside Resort. Very charming and rustic, yet totally updated in kitchen and bath. Just a great property and can sleep up to 8 but with single shower, that might be pushing things. We've already referred to friends and will hopefully get a return visit soon.

on 05/19/2014

Great, very cosy with good access to tahoe city and great ammenitites.

on 03/22/2014

This place was amazing, the jacuzzi worked great, it was so perfectly clean, etc but we were allergic to the cushions in the front room, not sure why. Otherwise, this place was absolutely a 10 and we would return.

on 03/07/2014

Cozy, calming, convenient, comfortable, classy, cool cabin.

on 02/06/2014

We enjoyed our stay entirely! Cottage is superb in great proximity to Tahoe City. Interior is simple, but beautiful. Pros: Kitchen is well equipped, Bathrooms are modern, Hot tub is clean, Bedrooms are cozy and comfortable,Heating system is modern and reliable. Cons: No food storage in the kitchen; No microwave; Seating area in the living room could be updated-sofa is hard and it does have unpleasant aroma. Despite of the above listed cons, we really enjoyed our 3 night stay in this lovely cottage and would highly recommended to anyone seeking relaxing time in the woods!

on 01/05/2014

We concur with others that this cabin is incredibly well appointed, very high quality, very comfortable, and charming The only thing we will bring if we are lucky enough to return is coffee pot. Our only 4 star -the location- is probably more pertinent to winter guests, when the early darkness and slippery patches made walking/running in the area a little treacherous.

Tahoe City is a perfect location in all directions! It's about equidistant from South Lake Tahoe and North Tahoe. But best of all, guests who stay here will be moments away from Olympic-caliber skiing at Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows, which are just a few minutes' drive away. The famous Truckee River also feeds in to Lake Tahoe in Tahoe City, and is simply beautiful to gaze at. River Grill is a great place to get a nice meal and watch the river - it overlooks the flowing, beautiful water. For those who like to hike or mountain bike, Inspiration Point and Eagle Falls Trail are perfect options with great views. Some other outdoor activities you can enjoy include zip lining, kayaking, canoeing, jet skiing, boating, swimming, and horseback riding. Commons Beach Park and Skylandia Park are both great spots to stop off at for some beautiful views and outdoor activities. For those who like the indoors more, check out Hellman-Ehrman Mansion or Gatekeeper's Museum. Granlibakken Ski and Sled Area is a super cool spot to check out too - they have sledding, zip lining, and a cool ropes course. The Tahoe Treetop Adventure Park is an awesome spot for kids and adults alike as well - it has a cool ropes course and the scenery is amazing!
