We had a fantastic time

We rented the house for 6 people during a Ski trip. The property has plenty of beds and plenty of linen and other house comforts. The garage also had all the tools we needed during the stay including a weber grill and charcoal.
Property was in a good location. It was clean, but what we weren't told is that Lake Tahoe is having a major mouse infestation! The rental agreement mentions "...possibility of the occasional field mice, etc", but no mention was made of an infestation! Upon arrival when we opened the door we were met w/a dead mouse in the middle of the living room; then another dead mouse in the middle of the bedroom; in addition, the closets were full of mouse poop. There were mouse traps scattered throughout the house, and every day there was a dead one in the trap - my husband had to take them outside and reset the trips each day. One morning we were met w/a mouse still trying to get out of a trap. The trash can ouside is pretty lame - most of the neighbors have the real "bear proof" type - this house did not. Every morning we came out and were met w/trash everywhere (that we had to clean up) because something would get in to it every night. The neighbor across the way told us he saw a bear in the yard - so obviously it was the bear getting in to it. For th;e most part, we liked the property (really nice patio to sit out on to have breakfast each morning), but we didn't like having to take care of dead mice, and pick up trash outside every day - it was a vacation after all!
The South Lake Tahoe area is filled with amazing activities for the whole family. For the skiiers and snowboarders, Heavenly Mountain Resort offers some great powder during the winter time. The Gondola at this resort is one of the most popular attractions in all of Tahoe. If you're looking for other outdoor options, though, such as hiking, mountain biking, or nature walks, be sure you hit up the Mount Tallac Trail, Pope Beach, Taylor Creek, Lower Eagle Falls, Van Sickle Bi-State Park, or the Bijou Community Park (disc golf is popular here). The South Lake Tahoe Ice Arena offers some great ice skating year round and Adventure Mountain is a great place to sled in the winter. Some other activities you might consider are hot-air-balloon rides, helicopter tours, boat tours, nature tours, wine-tasting tours, and heritage tours. For the educationally minded, Valhalla at Lake Tahoe and the Lake Tahoe Historical Society Museum offer great historical information about the area. You can even catch your own dinner at the Tahoe Trout Farm! If being indoors is more your style, South Lake Tahoe has tons of great restaurants, bars, spas, galleries, and shops. Like the rest of Tahoe, there's plenty of access to kayaking, canoeing, boating, paddleboarding, and parasailing in this area, too. One of the best outdoor activities, though, is Regan Beach, which gets crowded but offers some great swimming and some stunning views. Oh, and you might drive a bit north to check out Fallen Leaf Lake, too! It's a great photo opportunity.
