Just spent a week at the jingle house with extended family and had an amazing time. The house is large, well designed, and conveniently located across the street from the club. My only suggestions would be large pans in the kitchen and perhaps better bed arrangements to accommodate large families. Pretty minor blemishes on an amazing stay!!

We had an unbelievable time celebrating my birthday with friends on North Captiva. Bryan and his staff coordinated everything, accommodated my friends and family's particular transportation needs and put us in homes (Jingle and Party) that were large, comfortable, clean and perfect for our large group. From the check in center, North Captiva Island Club took care of everything, delivering people and their luggage to our rental house. Well coordinated, and lots of fun. The island is the perfect get away if you are ready to not see the same things you see everywhere else you vacation: No McDonalds, no CVS, nothing but what you need, a great store with the necessities and great breakfasts, a reservation only restaurant. The Gulf is good for the soul. Plenty of golf carts for the entire group, convenient beach access, great food, everyone loved the Tiki Bar / Pool
From the minute we arrived we knew we were going to have a great time. Everyone was very friendly and helpfull when we had questions. The house was beautiful and big enough for the 4 families. Everything was clean and something we loved was that we were very close the club and to the beach we could walk to either. Only thing you need to make sure you pack enough groceries because the store they have there, is very small and doesn't have much, plus it's kinda expensive. Other than that we had an awesome time from the dolphins to sunset, kayaks and the beach. We didn't want to leave the island. It's a very relaxing place. Can't wait to go back. :-)
The house was wonderful and met all of the needs of the family, however it was not clean. The disposal smelled horribly when we got there. After running the disposal and the dishwasher the smell seemed to go away. The dishes in the cabinet were also dirty. We had to clean everything before we used it.
We just returned from our first trip to North Captiva. The island itself is perfect if you are looking for a low-key relaxing time. There is not much to do on the island, so do not go expecting excitement. The house itself we great and perfect for a large family. The screened porch is a must to keep the horrible moquitos away.(insects were definitely the worst part of our trip) We enjoyed the club house pool/bar, and driving around looking at the manatees and other island creatures. We only saw a few people on the beach each day we went, it was great! We also loved fishing. Take all groceries you need, the grocery store is very small and costly. (case of water was $22) This was an overall good trip, if you are a "beach" person and looking to lay around and relax. We will definitely return in a few years.
My only complaint is the house. In general it was wonderful & very spacious. But If you are going to stay in this house and you are a light sleeper make sure you do not stay in the Master Bedroom! When I arrived and went into the room to use the bathroom I was there and every 2-3 minutes you hear a sound like if someone was drilling on the roof. I came out to the kitchen area assuming the rest of the family had touched something or done something to make that sound, but no one had done a thing. I just ignored it and we went and spent the rest of the day in the pool. At night during dinner we could still hear the sound coming out of the Master Bath plus the a/C in the main area was not cooling so we called and a person came out. The person told us that the noise that was coming from the roof was something that had to do with the water system of the house (so basically he couldn't do a thing about it) and that the a/C was working fine from what he saw. We later figured that the house gets very hot during the day because in kitchen and dining area there are windows that the sun comes thru but with no blinds so we figured that's why the house was very warm during the day. We had to keep the a/C around 67 to make sure that the house felt at like 74-75 during the day. That first night I have to admit I did not sleep a wink. I am a light sleeper so every 2-3 minutes that the noise would go off in the master bath was very irritating! My husband though, who could sleep thru a bomb, didn't realize a thing. All the other people in the house slept fine and had no problems with their rooms. We did not use the daybed & thank god! the room has no curtains or blinds & has 2 sky lights so it was boiling the entire time because the sun is in there 24/7. Another thing to know in the Master Bath the tub has a large window with no blinds that overlooks the pool, anyone in the pool can see you! Other than that the house was great and so was the island and the staff.

The Jingle Beach House was like a dream! The rooms and common areas accomadated our party very well. Sadly we did not have a view of the beach, however, we had a private pool and a grill. I would highly recommend this beach house to a large family and/or party!
While we originally chose the Jingle house because of the number of bedrooms, the biggest asset ended up being the home's location. Being the closest home to the club, pool, bar, and restaurants was a great plus. We attended a wedding, and many of the events were held very close to the home. Lots of room to spread out, especially outdoor spaces. Never felt crowded at all. All the amenities were as stated. Only problems included lots of ants (a problem for all homes on the island we heard) and some shoddy construction (e.g., bathroom hardware like towel bars coming off of the walls). Overall it was obvious that the house had been rented often, but was still in good shape. Be warned that the master bath shower includes a large window overlooking the pool, and there's no way to block it ;)
We had a large group of friends (13 total) come in for Labor Day weekend. Everyone has agreed that this was our best vacation yet. The house was great with plenty of room for our large group. We spent the majority of our time in the private pool relaxing. We also spent time exploring the island with the free kayak and bike rentals. The staff were always helpful and pleasant. Great vacation and we are planning to come back in 2012!
Miami Family!on 01/02/2013
We stayed at North Captiva Island on august 2011 at the Jingle 166 house. There was a total of 13 of us 9 adults, 3 children, and one teen. The outside of the house is not as well maintained as it shows in the pictures but the inside it is just as described and better. There was plenty of beds and bathrooms for everyone to sleep comfortable we actually had one extra! The living room, dinning room and kitchen are one giant massive room which is great if you have small children like myself cause they can run around and you can see them from all rooms. Another huge plus if you have small children is that although the house is 2 floors the hallway to the stairs can be locked and the kids have not access to the stairs --- this was great as almost everything in the house is located on the second floor. Kitchen had plenty of pots/plates/silverware/ect... never ran out of toilet paper nor paper towels, ran out of trash bags made a quick call and they were at the house within 5 minutes to deliver it. The service on the island is amazing from the pine island parking to the bus, the captain, the check in, everyone is super nice and friendly! The house has a huge plus which I didn't even realize until we got there and saw that at least in august the mosquitos were horrible (I mean we couldn't even get out of the house bad!) so the pool was screened in which was great!!! We were able to be at the pool till late at night without having to worry about the mosquitos! I saw some early reviews of bugs in the house: they are true we had to kill several small spiders and the ants were pretty bad in the kitchen cause of the rainy season - nothing to stress about once everything was killed the first day we had no problems for the rest of the week. The island is beautiful, we drove around the golf cart which was super comfortable and got around great we the whole family. The beaches are magnificent, sometimes we were the only ones at the beach almost private. House is close to the club!
A perfect way to spend your vacation, a beautiful Island, amazing home, great housekeepers, direct contact with nature, unforgettable beach.
My extended family and I (9 adults, 2 kids, 1 infant) stayed at the Jingle House for the week of July 4th. This was our second trip to N. Cap and 1st time at Jingle. We absolutely love the island and can't wait to go back next year. It is the most relaxing vacation location- leave your cars behind and get on island time! We loved exploring the island on bikes, golf carts (decorated for the 4th of course!) and on foot. Even during the holiday week, we were shocked that the beaches were still relatively wide open. The Jingle House was also fantastic. Plenty of space for our large group. We especially lvoed the media room for the kids- gave them a good spot for some chill out time after very active days. The screened porch was great for morning coffee and evening cocktails (kept "most" of the bugs away). And the pool area was great too. We were worried the pool itself might be too small, but it was just fine. Kitchen was better stocked than other vacation houses we've stayed in before. I'd give the house 4.5 stars only because it's not on the water- but I guess that's why we could still afford it! The club management was fantastic- Brian, Kayla and Jeff? (golf cart manager) were tops. They went out of there way to make sure we were happy and taken care of. They even helped us to extend our vacation by two nights by allowing us to move to another house hassle-free. We just weren't ready to leave the island! Next time we'll know to book 9 or 10 nights. So I would definitely recommend N. Cap and the Jingle house to all- I just hope this review doesn't mean the house will be booked the next time we're ready to visit!
Great Housem - Jingleon 01/02/2013
We had an excellent vacation. The house has a great have layout for the families and kids. You have sitting areas inside and out as well as a large dining room. We had issues with the aC upon arrival, but was promptly resolved. We ate at he Boat House, and Barnacle Phills The island had a lot of mosquitos during our stay, but they were trying to get them under control.
The Jingle Home was beautiful inside and out, the decor and layout was perfect for a large family. The only thing that was a great dissapointment was the kitchen supplies for a home that supports a large family the home was not equipment with the proper kitchen ware. Also the poker table/pool table was missing the pool table sticks.
This was our first visit to the island and we were bringing 9 people: two families of three each with a 2 year old, two grandparents, and an aunt. La Brisa's six bedrooms were ideal and the ability to work directly with the owner made everyone more comfortable. We had a great week at the house and on the island. North Captiva gets mixed reviews. If you're looking for the Four Seasons or the Ritz, this isn't the place for you. If you're looking for laid back, relaxed, perhaps even a bit on the rustic side and you're okay with the pros and cons of that, North Captiva is a wonderful place. The island was apparently, "crazy busy" the week we were there. However, the most people we ever counted on the beautiful beaches were 17. That includes the 9 of us. The house comes with two golf carts, which was perfect for an extended family. However, you can walk almost anywhere on the island in about 10 minutes. The club facilities are less than 2 minutes away; the closest beach is maybe a 5 minute walk. We used the grocery service and, in our opinion, it was worth every penny to come in to a fully stocked kitchen. La Brisa has a second kitchen in the pool house; the extra fridge space was nice - as was easy access to cold beer from the pool... The pool was also perfect for the kids. Beach in the morning, lunch, pool time, dinner, sunset walk, repeat. The week went by fast! Generally speaking, pack fewer clothes and more food - though there were four dining options on the island of varying price and quality. We certainly could have eaten out more than we did. There are, effectively, no supplies, groceries, etc on the island. If you didn't bring shampoo, you're going to have dirty hair... La Brisa is apparently one of the older homes on the island - but that's a good thing! The new homes are high up on stilts and require LOTS of stair climbing. At La Brisa, there's a fully finished ground floor (pool, bathroom, 2 bedrooms, game room) and then the rest of the house is on the second floor. Many other homes have three or four flights of stairs to climb. My brother was initially concerned the house wasn't on the beach. It was no big deal in the end - more privacy and, again, less than a 5 minute walk to nearly deserted beaches. Lots of porch space and we thought the well water was great. We certainly had worse water in some restaurants on the island! The home does have wireless DSL service. Unfortunately, when we were there the phone line was very static-prone and the DSL was excruciatingly slow. Generally, VERY poor Verizon cell service on the island; AT&T phones worked fine. There are certainly "fancier" homes on the island but if "fancy" is your thing, North Captiva probably isn't your island. We would certainly rent La Brisa again and we highly recommend it to larger families looking for space for everyone. Also, can't overemphasize the convenience of having your own private pool!
This was my family's third visit to North Captiva and second time staying in the home. We couldn't ask for a better family vacation. NCAP forces you to truly relax. Our basic routine involved making breakfast, going to the beach, pool time at the house, more pool time at the club, back to the beach for sunset, games and night with the family, sleep and REPEAT. Pure bliss for anyone who needs to slow down, relax and reconnect. And the La Brisa house is ideal for our family of 7 adults and 2 kids. Plenty of space to spread out. Living room and dining room seating for everyone. The media room was great for the youngest in our crew and meant we didn't have to listen to Nickelodeon 24/7. And close proximity to the club amenities is super convenient. We've researched every rental on the island and have yet to find a better set- up. The new owner improved the beds in two of the upstairs rooms. One room no longer a trundle but two twins instead. And the other changed from 2 twins to a queen. Plus, more kitchen items were added, including pots and pans and even a huge margaritaville blender. Sweet! We love this spot and will definitely be back!
The house is terrific. The enclosed pool very important with the various wild life around. The. Island is beautiful but very remote and not many amenities you must bring everything you need the store leaves must to be desired.
