  • Centrally located near the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park in Mauna Loa Estates subdivision, and only about 30 minutes to Hilo, you are convenient to all of the sights and sounds that the east side of the Big Island has to offer. From here, swimming and snorkeling in Punaluu Black Sands Beach or in Hilo is a 30-minute drive in either direction, and the Volcanoes National Park is practically in your backyard. Hale Ohia Lehua sits perfectly on its private, quiet landscaped 1/2 acre with citrus and other fruit trees in the backyard, and the native Hapuu ferns surround the edge of the property. Enjoy BBQing outside and the crisp mountain air at 3500 elevation. The large lanai is the perfect place to relax with a cup of coffee or tea in the morning, or a great book in the afternoon. Cozy up to the gas fireplace in the living room on those chilly Volcano evenings! Hale Ohia Lehua sleeps 6-7 comfortably with a regular king bed in the master, a queen in the 2nd bedroom, and a twin & double bunk-bed in the 3rd bedroom. The master bedroom has its own large private bathroom with a huge walk-in shower. WHAT TO PACK: The Island of Hawaii, aka the Big Island, boasts over 4,000 square miles and 10 different climate zones, within which are many micro climate zones! You may think that packing your favorite swimsuit and slippers (flip flops) is enough, but not true if you plan on doing any hiking or sightseeing around the island. Hawaii Volcanoes National Park can get quite chilly with temperatures dropping down to the low 40s at night, sometimes lower, so do bring your favorite warm pajamas and at least a light jacket. It actually snows often on Mauna Kea, but they close those roads whenever there are blizzard conditions present. If you plan on doing a lava hike, you should consider bringing your hiking boots, as youll want good ankle support for this 1/2-day or more experience. At the very least, bring a solid pair of tennis shoes and dont attempt the lava hike in flip flops. - 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths (Sleeps 6-7) - Beds: 1 King, 1 Queen, 1 Twin/Double bunkbed - Television/Dish TV - NO INTERNET SERVICE AT THIS TIME Please bring your own wifi device or use your cell phone - Full Kitchen - All Cooking Utensils - Microwave - Dishwasher - DVD/CD Player - Lots of DVDs - BBQ Grill - Gas - Washer & Dryer - Many Restaurants Close - No Smoking - No Pets - Hilo 30 min. - Kilauea 2 min. Thinking of moving here full-time and are looking at real estate? Hale Ohia Lehua is the perfect solution to needing a furnished home until you either purchase or build your dream home in paradise. And were realtors! We are happy to help you find that perfect home, or lot to build! TA-149-975-4496-02 24hr contact NOTE: This is a new home and the address DOES NOT GPS! PLEASE FOLLOW YOUR DRIVING INSTRUCTIONS! From the Hilo Airport: Take a left leaving the airport, and you'll be on Hwy 11. After turning LEFT, stay on Highway 11 for approximately 25.5 Miles (look for the 25 mile marker) The street BEFORE JADE STREET is Nahelenani, so look for that sign first. Youll go almost 1 mile more before you turn LEFT on Jade Street. After turning LEFT on Jade drive 7 tenths of a mile to 9th St. Turn LEFT on 9th Street and go all the way to the end. Hale Ohia Lehua will be at the end of the street on the LEFT. When you arrive, there is a key lock box mounted on a post nearest the door through the carport. Please enter through this door. The lockbox code is #-0-5-7.

Turtle Cove was a nice house for my family. There was room for everyone, with my husband and me staying in the small house up front, while the kids/grandkids stayed in the big house. The small house did not much air movement through it, so it stayed quite home. The bigger home got a lot of great air flow and stayed much cooler.
The snorkeling off the backyard can't be beat. The small pool was great for little kids, while the inlet was perfect for an early morning exploration. Saw lots of fish, eel, and a reef shark!
The house is provisioned a little oddly, with only salt and pepper and a few condiments. You will need to show up on day one with your own coffee! Also, be sure to bring your own trash bags, as only one is provided.
The management is great. They responded quickly to our needed bar stools - which were in the pictures but missing when we got there.
The only complete was the outdoor furniture on the deck. The seats fall through and the lounge is stained. But the hammocks are a nice addition.

Second trip back to this location...we love the many cool things to see on this side of the island. Many of the homes here are vacation rentals. This was our first stay in this unit. It was clean and just as pictured. Loved the screened lanai...and the large deck below. Washer was out of service, and there is parking for one car maximum...none of which was a major issue for us. If you are looking for nightlife this isn’t the area. But the perfect location for a family vacation. We would certainly stay here again.

Hilo town with all of its historical points of interest, color and famous for its friendly people is only about 45 minutes away and the ever changing Volcanoes National Park is about a 60 minute drive. Hawaii Volcanoes National Park can get quite chilly with temperatures dropping down to the low 40's at night, sometimes lower, so do bring your favorite warm pajamas and at least a light jacket. Rates are for double occupancy. Add $25 per additional person, plus 14.416% Hawaii State taxes. Cleaning and other fees will also apply. There is the potential for noise here. We just learned (12/1/17) that a neighbor has started building a new home nearby. The code for the Main House is 6789. The code for the Studio is 4321.

This home has some beautiful features, lots of outdoor space with gathering areas and a very "open air" feel. The floor plan is interesting-full bathroom in house not on the floor where the bedrooms are, and all bathrooms require going outside to get to them. In the house it is a deck, in the guesthouse, you walk from one building to another. The listing does not make it clear that you can rent just the house and not the guesthouse-an option we would have like to have had, as we did not need the 3 bedrooms and extra space. Also, there are screens missing from several windows and they are necessary due to the insects. Especially at night-insects like lights. A little TLC, some light bulb replacement/additions to stariwells and clearer description and this would be a 5 star home. This would be a great place to rent if you were with more than one family or a larger group. It affords group gatherings as well as privacy. Hawaii Life was easy to work with and very responsive. Lastly, this home is in a beautiful place but it is quite a way from Hilo-just know that and check mileage. All the roads have lower speed limits and travel about the island takes lots of time! We loved Uncle Roberts Awa on Wednesday evenings nearby as well as Yoga at Kaliani Resort and the hot pools in the area.

Cute cottage, starting to show its age. Great location for exploring this side of island. Walk (15 min. to tidepools for snorkeling). Nicely decorated and appointed although kitchen could use some more utensils (another frying pan, for ex.) We had three adults in our party and the second bedroom/bathroom is really not the best. Although the fans work, hard to move the air through that room and get rid of the heat/humidity at night. The outdoor lani was lovely, but not screened so use bug spray.

  • This large and inviting home has 4 bedrooms and 3 baths on 2 separate living levels. Situated on a ½ acre back from the street, this home is private and is landscaped with beautiful blooming tropical plants that Hawaii is certainly known for. Located in the ever popular Hawaiian Paradise Park subdivision at Kaloli Point, this area is known for its sunnier skies and warmer temperatures. The open and spacious living, dining, kitchen area that opens up to the tiled ocean view lanai is absolutely perfect for the guests that are traveling together. Upstairs are 2 generously sized bedrooms with 2 baths. The master bedroom has its own entrance to the tiled lanai and has a lovely tiled shower for 2. Beautiful stained glass windows adorn the master bath. The downstairs area with separate entrance has 2 more bedrooms that share 1 bath. Everyone has their own space. How wonderful is that? And again, that 3rd floor observation deck or widows watch is pretty incredible! A popular romantic myth holds that the platform was used to observe vessels at sea. The name widows watch is said to come from the wives of mariners who would watch for their spouses return, often in vain as the ocean took the lives of the mariners, leaving the women widows. Someone knows well about Ki Maka Manu. Need to really carefully . Wenlearned MUST to buy the rental insurance but the insurance they recommend for us is only cover for the rental owner, they don’t cover for other check the rental insurance well also. Dishwasher was broken and while we stayed there upstairs one door couldn’t lock well. Very poor Low security .
