wonderful. The location was great the beach wonderful and the house was all we had wanted and needed. The two queen beds were the only complaint. the mattresses are awfully uncomfortable. great place would rent again.

Hopefully my review makes it to you , because I really believe it will help in your decision making when it comes to finding a place to stay in Gulf Shores. There are some good and some bad when it comes to The Hideaway. The first time I stayed on the gulf coast we rented a condo in a high rise that had marble floors, big screen TV's , a Keurig, etc (you get the idea.) The Hideaway is not that. The Hideaway is all about location and convenience, not luxury. I was shocked when we first got there at how run down things were in and outside the house. That being said, lets talk about convenience. When we stayed at the Condo high rise, you would have to gather your stuff, take an elevator, walk 10 minutes with all your stuff to get to the beach. At The Hideaway, it is literally a hop, skip, and a jump and you are on the beach. I fished from the beach every day and it was great when I wanted to eat or needed to use the bathroom and could just stroll back up to the house. We had a very busy week and were constantly driving places and the same is true for the convenience of having our car right below the house so we could be out the house and on the road in a minute whereas at a Condo its a 10 minute pain in the neck. Also a store and restaurant right across the street was great. So hopefully you get the point here. If you are looking for luxury THIS IS NOT THE PLACE FOR YOU! If you are looking for convenience THIS IS THE PLACE FOR YOU. In the end, I was pleased with how things turned out and got to appreciate the run down charm the Hideaway had to offer.

The staff at Anchor vacations called us in route and made sure about our arrival time and told us where to pick up keys after hours. Really appreciated that. The Hideway was easily found with the map provided. Being able to walk to the beach and across the street to a grocery store and restaurant(Beach House) was convenient. Great for quick meals. Kitchen was well equipped and whole house was very clean. Pillows were very comfortable on the beds. There were a few light fixtures that did not work, could have needed light bulbs but we did not miss the use of them. Sliding glass doors in living room were not used, very hard to open and close. We used the ones off the kitchen but those also need some work. Loved the screened in porch and the deck was partially covered. Could sit in lounge chair in the shade and listen to the waves. I would recommend this property. We received great food and service at the Beach House, Bill's by the Beach, Oyster House, and The Gulf (orange Beach-15 min east). There was a sea turtle nest on beach which was roped off and we googled sea turtles and was a learning experience.

We enjoyed this stay very much. We had other family staying close by so we enjoyed the beach together. There was immediate action with the management when we needed an item. Thank you so much for a great week!

Wife and I spent a month at the beach. We have been doing it for the past ten years. The beach was not crowded this year because of a lack of college students. The weather was outstanding very little rain and no real hot weather.

My family stayed at The Hideaway for 4 nights last week. The setting was absolutely perfect. The unit is in dire need of an update. Would have been perfect if furnishings would have been a little nicer and beds had been a little more comfy!

The best thing about the Hideaway is by far it's location. This is a no frills kind of place (which we were totally fine with). The issue we had was with the upkeep. I had to make an extensive list of all the things that were broken or damaged when we arrived to inform the rental company so we wouldn't be charged for them. Most of the issues were cosmetic, but the two sliding glass doors that lead to the deck were almost inoperable. The handles were about to fall off the doors. The doors were also extremely heavy. My wife and 6 year old son could not even open or close them without assistance. It also took a good 10-15 minutes every time you left the house to coerce the lock to actually lock. Eventually we just stopped using them and used the main entrance to access the deck. The deck itself is in need of some TLC. There were so many nail heads sticking up that we were afraid to walk bare foot on it at all. There were many other damaged items as well (coach leg broken, broken trim boards, damaged doors, etc.) There were lots of other little annoyances. The kitchen didn't have a cutting board or any baking pans. There was a dust pan, but no broom. I don't feel these things are unreasonable items as I have stayed in much cheaper rentals were these items were provided. I loved the layout of the place and it's proximity to the beach, but for the price I don't think we would stay here again. Hopefully, they will address these issues so future renters will feel more satisfied.
Loved the house and location was the absolute best beach property ever. Clean pleasant environment. The kitchen was poorly equipped for a month long stay. I purchased a number of items including a slow cooker and a skillet large enough to actually cook in. I donated them to the house in hopes that if I return they will still be there. Over all had a wonderful time spending the month of November there.
The good - Great location. The deck was designed to enjoy even on a rainy day. Plenty of room for large families. Closer than most houses to the beach.
The bad - beds are horrible (worst word I could think of to describe them. You would think if you are collecting 4k-5k weekly then buying a few good mattresses would not be a big deal. A few water spots on ceiling and it appears the AC may be causing water damage as well. Not many utensils or cook wear present (we bought some and left it for future guest.
Overall - great location - great little house. The beds are a deal breaker for me.
Location on beach was great! The house lacks updates and has minimal kitchen utensils. The beds are noisy and lack comfort. If you don't mind that it is rough around the edges it has plenty of room for family or guests. The deck does have a nice shaded area. We encountered a couple of issues just after we arrived and Anchor vacations was quick to resolve the problems. You are able to walk to a nice bar/restaurant and little store just steps away.
This house is in a great location with some good amenities but we had some issues such as: poorly stock kitchen, poor mattresses, raised nails on decks, old screen door on deck, scalding hot water, no wheels on garage can, and a 2 day delay to fix dryer, rusty grill, and the wi-fi password was incorrect.
Our stay was very good. Spring break was over so crowds were small. Great location handy to everything . House just needs to be updated.
