Overall we enjoyed the cabin and our stay. The only downside to the entire experience was the size of the actual living area. There wasn't enough seating for our party of 7 adults. (Minor issue) The cabin was beautiful and well kept. The location is very convenient whether going to Gatlinburg or hiking. We would have preferred to have a larger TV to watch the football game but once again a minor issue.

Only problem for me was the gravel driveway going up hill. Other than that everything was great.
Msheal A.on 10/07/2018
They change my reservations to another cabin two days before my check in date the replacement cabin was not great like that one we booked out

We were able to enjoy our stay in this beautiful cabin. It was very clean and had everything we need for our stay could not of asked for a better mountain experience

We loved our stay at elk springs. It was absolutely peaceful and relaxing. Our kids had so much fun.

I have been coming to vacation in the Gatlinburg/ Pigeon Forge area on a regular basis for the past ten years, and I have to say that this experience has been, by far, the worst. The driveway to our cabin was gravel that had not been packed down, which no one bothered to mention. This made getting to our cabin extremely difficult. The next morning came with a leak from the upstairs bathroom into the main level bathroom, which almost caused my 87 year old grandfather to slip and fall. That night came with me discovering stains on our king sized comforter (which looked suspiciously like blood), and maintenance bringing us a 2nd comforter, which was a queen and also dirty, and a 3rd comforter, which was still a queen. All of this occurred around 10:30 at night, when I would have much rather been sleeping. The towels were dingy looking, and like sandpaper, the rain showers over the jacuzzi tubs were completely ridiculous and not practical at all, the dresser in the upstairs master is in horrible shape (I was scared to touch it for fear of it falling apart), and the WiFi was a cruel joke. When I spoke with a woman at the management company our second night, in reference to our comforter issue, I was very clear with her about all of the inconveniences we had experienced. I never received any sort of communication from management asking about our experience. The whole situation left the impression of complete indifference. There will never be a circumstance where I will use this management company again, and I would certainly never recommend them to anyone.

House was clean and beautiful. Our Overall experience was really nice.
There is not a lot of insulation and can hear almost everything from 2nd to 3rd story. The upstairs bedroom king bed is squeaky and so is the floor. The upstairs tub was leaking down into the 2nd floor bathroom but they came and re-caulked it.

I have to be honest the pictures on the web site and the actually resort omg it is ten times better in reality, super clean and just beautiful. only complaint i have was that the road was not paved but the place itself beautiful view of the mountains. it gave my grown children time to relax hike and reconnect.the resort staff stay in contact with you for all your needs and return your phone call immediately. loved it.
Tracy B.on 11/05/2017
From checking in to checking out, we loved our stay. The cabin was everything you see in the pictures. So quiet and peaceful. Our kids cried when we had to leave. Will definitely stay here again!

Great Place and location!
Dan C.on 09/20/2017
Just a few comments, a dozen wine glasses no corkscrew.
The mainfloor toliet needs repair, continues to run.
We had an amazing time in the Gatlinburg area and at the end of the long day it was nice to get out of the crowds and relax in a quiet space.
Bob B.on 09/08/2017
We choose this cabin, and paid a premium, for the media room. We wanted to watch football games during the weekend and this room looks great on the website. What they don't tell you is it ONLY PLAYS DVDs. No cable, no streaming, nothing but DVDs. We were very disappointed. Also, the floors on the middle and top floors are very load. They squeak with every step. Once anyone is up, it's hard to stay asleep.
Drew M.on 09/01/2017
The cabin was located at a great location to get away from all of the crowds witch was wonderful after a long day. It was centeraly located near grocery store, shops, gas station, restaurants, and just a few short miles to down town.

An awesome cabin in the smoky mountains with everything for the family to relax, if I'm ever back will definitely go there again!!!!

water in the hot tub could be cleaner
Teresa G.on 03/29/2017
The cabin was amazingly beautiful. The view as well. We did have a few minor issues that were dealt with ASAP through a cabin visit and phone conversation. The cabin was spacious and clean.
Jarma M.on 02/23/2017
I honestly didn't know that I had that Rustic Girl inside of me, but once I arrived here, she emerged... This place was awesome. All of the amenities were fully functional. This place made me not want to leave. It has been put in place that we will be returning in January 2018.
Amanda B.on 08/19/2016
Had me and my extended family in one cabin. 8 of us in total. 2 little kids and 6 adults. Had no problem getting rest. There was plenty of room and beds for everyone. Super comfortable and the view was amazing.
Angela D.on 07/23/2016
Our experience with Elk Springs was amazing!! We had originally booked a 1bdrm/2bath unit. There was a problem with it, and we were placed in this gorgeous cabin. This was an unexpected upgrade and we couldn't have been more excited. Elk Springs customer service is exceptional..The cabin was exactly as pics show and beautiful!
Jaikishin C.on 06/27/2016
We had a great experience. Absolutely satisfied with the stay !!
It felt like home.
Mihir P.on 06/16/2016
Overall we were happy with our stay. Not to high up so the drive wasn't as bad. Not too far from main attractions with no traffic. Of course up in the mountains there will be bigs at night so be sure to keep doors closed at night.
Lerry S.on 04/03/2016
Did not meet our expectations. Quite a bit below the "Luxury" cabin we expected to experience and paid for. Also, my name is "LARRY" not Lerry as you have it listed below. I would suggest removing the listing as "Luxury". Very disappointed.
Karen M.on 03/18/2016

Crisden M.on 11/09/2015
Hi we love the cabins but there is definitely a lack of things in the kitchen such as a kettle! There is only one pot and when we used the BBQ there is nothing to clean it with! The down stairs carpet is ripped to pieces near the sauna! It needs some desperate renos for sure. Otherwise we love the location
Susan M.on 10/20/2015
Hilltop Hideaway was everything we visualized and more. The location is perfect for avoiding the traffic in Gatlinburg. There are other cabins in this area, but plenty of space in between each one on the hill. Everyone had their own space and then some. The only complaint we had is that we didn't spend enough time at the cabin. We were out every day horse back riding, hiking, or shopping. We plan to return and never leave the cabin.
Nicholas C.on 10/16/2015
We had a total of 4 adults and 3 kids staying at the Hilltop Hideaway. The kids loved the bunk beds and movie room. The location is excellent and convenient to Gatlinburg with a grocery store very close to the cabin. We will definitely consider staying here again in the future.
Kellie C.on 10/12/2015
We had an outstanding time and loved Hilltop Hideaway. We will be sure to visit again.
Rebecca O.on 09/25/2015
Only thing I would add is more towel pegs in the bathrooms. One isn't enough. Check in was so convenient, great cabin.
John S.on 09/18/2015
Excellent week in a great vacation house. Elk Springs is a nice cabin-only resort, house didn't give us the feeling like we were in someone's house and afraid to touch anything, yet well stocked. Great customer service beginning with a call to check in with us shortly after arriving. We highly recommend Elk Springs for a family vacation. Next door to Gatlinburg and Great Smokey Mountains National Park.
John H.on 09/13/2015
The cabin has a beautiful view in a perfect location and lived up to the pictures!!! Can't wait to go back.
James M.on 08/09/2015
Every thing was just like it looked on the web site. Everyone had a great time and we would stay with Elk Springs Resort again and again.
Jennifer K.on 04/24/2015
We travelled to Gatlinburg for a long weekend, and had a great time! Only problem was we couldn't stay longer! The cabin was very nice. It appeared to be one of the more secluded cabins (off to the side a bit more than some of the others) which we enjoyed. The cabin was clean and appeared to be well maintained. A short drive to downtown Gatlinburg, which was nice! The Company even called over the weekend to make sure we were enjoying our stay and everything met our expectations. Overall, great experience, and we will definitely go back!
Heidi M.on 03/16/2015
We stayed 4 nights at the lovely Hilltop Hideaway with our 2 children and their 2 friends. Such a great experience. Everything was spotless and in great condition...true cabin luxury! Just a couple of things to note for future guests. 1. The photo online shows 6 chairs in the media room but there were only 5. We had 6 guests total so it would have been nice to have a chair for each person to enjoy our nightly movies. I called to request an additional chair but one was never delivered. We made it work though...just be aware if this is important to you. 2. It's a true cabin and the walls (or floors rather) are very creaky so you can definitely hear others walking above you. It didn't bother us at all but just make note if this is important to you. We had an amazing time and would book with Elk Springs Lodge again in a heartbeat. Location was excellent to all Gatlinburg activities...best of both worlds, nice quiet relaxation at the cabin and all tourist activities you could want just a short 10 minute drive away. Loved that the Food City is so close too!! Made for easy grocery shopping and preparing meals in the cabin!
Josh M.on 02/13/2015
The cabin was very cute and in a great location. We appreciated the early check in. The biggest frustration was that a the first floor was extremely cold and unusable. We had to squeeze my two girls and my mom in the second floor bed. There needs to be a seperate hearing unit on the first floor. No matter how we adjusted the temperature on the other levels the first floor remained freezing. Because of that reason alone we would never stay there again.
Stephanie B.on 01/23/2015
My five sisters and I had a wonderful weekend stay at the Hilltop Hideaway cabin at this resort. It was in a beautiful location with a gorgeous mountain view. Everything inside the cabin was clean, updated, and ready for our fun weekend. It had all the comforts of home. Unlike a regular hotel room with little space to move, all six of us lounged between three floors with more than enough room to spare. This was also my first time experiencing the virtual check-in and check-out. It was great to just arrive at the cabin and let ourselves in and when it was time to check-out, just call in and we were on our way back home. Management called to welcome us and checked on us during our stay. The cabin was easy to find and I was very happy to see that it was private, but there were other cabins around us in view. So we were not alone in the woods. Being six women, the best part of the trip was we were only a few minutes away from great shopping, museums, shows and food. It was an excellent trip. We are now in the process of planning a time our entire family can visit. I have recommended this resort to family and friends.
Anthony D.on 01/01/2015
Loved the cabin, very clean and made use of all of the amenities. Great location for getting into town quickly. The only thing I would say is that the location of the hot tub on the deck is not ideal and the water in it was overflowing to the lower lever by the doorway. This is our second time staying at Elk Springs Resort and we will be back for a third.
Cathy M.on 11/06/2014
The house was beautiful.Although there were 2 problems upon arrival, they were resolved in a timely manner. The downside..(reasons why i wont return) is for 2 reasons..1. Too far from town. 2. Too many cabins in sight. I thought by the description that there was only 1 other cabin in our area..maybe an advertising "stretch" to make it seem more private than it is.
Your cabins are beautiful..if only location was different..thought the price was definitely more than the house was worth..especially with the little soaps and minimal little perks provided.
Joseph M.on 10/12/2014
The Hilltop Hideaway and Elk Springs Resort exceeded our expectations. The cabin was spotless and they were quick to respond the one time we had an issue with the Jacuzzi. I will be staying there again with my family.
Sherry L.on 07/06/2014
I mean it was great location and cabin with awesome features but the cabin was not clean or the hot tub. Three family members got bacteria infections and rashes on their skin. A lot of electronics were broke ....but most of all there too many bugs. Different kind! Every hour on the hour. Like I said on my survey, maintenance was fast at getting there .....they justjust needed pest control and they needed to clean up.
Brent W.on 06/28/2014
Great cabin. Will definitely stay here again!
Cindy S.on 06/21/2014
We had a great time. The cabin was beautiful, very clean and well kept. Nice to have 3 bedrooms and 3 baths on 3 different floors. Theater room was great but one chair had been removed because it was broken and was not replaced for our whole week's stay. Otherwise, very responsive to calls. I would stay with Elk Springs again.
Ashley Z.on 05/14/2014
From the moment we arrived at the cabin, it was breathtaking! The cabin was very clean, the amenities were awesome and the view was just heavenly!! The staff there was incredible. Although we never once saw them, they called the day after we arrived just to check and make sure we were having a good time. I would come here every year!
Dina W.on 05/02/2014
We really enjoyed our 2 days stay at Hilltop Hideaway. The cabin was very clean, and had all of the ammenities we needed. The view was spectacular and it was so relaxing to just sit on the deck and relax in the rocking chairs...and later in the hot tub! The home theatre was a real treat. Shopping was close by. It was a great visit! We'll be back!
Lisa B.on 04/07/2014
The cabin was very nice. It had 3 floors with a bedroom on each floor. The check-in was easy. We had an issue with the theater system and it was fixed quickly. It was a very comfortable place to stay.
Wade S.on 03/22/2014
Hilltop Hideaway was exceptional in every way. What other ammenaties other than a butler could you ask for?
The flat screens should be bigger in bedrooms and especially in living room. Also need under cabinet lights in kitchen.
David E.on 02/21/2014
We had a great time at the Elk Springs Resort Hilltop Hideaway cabin! My wife and I and our friends really enjoyed the cabin. The cabin was very clean. We enjoyed watching movies in the theater room and cooking breakfast. The views of the mountains were wonderful! Very fun and relaxing trip!
Casey H.on 02/16/2014
We absolutely loved the cabin. Will stay here again
Elizabeth P.on 12/26/2013
The view was not what I expected, the cabin was smaller than I expected but the main problem was how noisy the cabin was all the floor boards squeaked as well as the beds, at night if someone got up and walk across the floor everyone in the cabin could hear the squeaking floors which made it very difficult to sleep.
Victoria M.on 11/16/2013
I never take the time to write reviews, but I am going to with this one.
With the cost of the rental, I was really disappointed. The beds were hard, the cabin was dirty (dust bunnies under furniture, cob webs, etc), carpet needs to be replaced. They also charged $45 to clean the hot tub, but when we got in, there were two beer bottle caps in there, leading me to believe they took the $45 and ran. We had to call maintenance upon arriving b/c of wasps. The movies we brought for my son were unusable b/c they are bluray and they only had a DVD player. No input either so we couldn't watch Netflix or anything. The TVs around the house are very small. Also, you could hear every word that was spoken, even two floors up.
Basically, except for the view, it was like staying at a basic hotel.
Extremely disappointing, especially the $45 hot tub cleaning that was NOT done.
We had a great experience from the rental process, our stay, and departure. All the amenities were great as well as the service.
I have been taking my family on vacation to cabins for many years. I have never been to a cabin that was so unwelcoming. I would suggest taking down all the warning signs about charging for every little thing. It didn't seem like a warm welcome, we felt like we were just the next people to stay there. Also a regular maintenace should be conducted.
We had three baths but could only used at a time. They advertise a theatre but was not connected to internet, netflix, or any cable tv. Played DVDs but we had to find a place to rent them. It also showed trout fishing. We rented this cabins mostly because we thought we would be close to the water. Very misleading in my opinion.
The Hillside cabin is beautiful and location was great. Few areas for improvement: sauna was a huge attraction but did not work; queen double lower bunk mattress was flipped over had to place couch cushions on top in order to sleep on mattress. Did not turn mattress over fearful of what might be on the other side. Much difficulty getting theater working. We were grateful we had high tech family members present.
Cabin was nice, But it needs new upholstery, bedding, and carpet. The carpet in the bedroom next to the kitchen on the second floor smells like urine.
Important note: there are no hairdryers supplied. We found using Google Maps and GPS points 35-45-33N 83-27-12W was the only accurate way to get to house (Waze did not get to correct house).
We have rented houses from Maine to Caribbean and everywhere in between. The pictures were relatively accurate; however, they missed the signs throughout the house reminding you if you broke or damaged an item, the price you will be charged is marked with the signs. I have never felt so uncomfortable in a house.
Furniture was ok - our comforter had some stains & wear. Check out the excessive caulk job at the tubs.
We visited the house with our 2 adult children and their husbands. Cooking was difficult at best due to the poor quality and quantity of the cookware, silverware, utensils. The appliances, while stainless finish, were all entry level builder grade.
Basically, for about $500 they could have proper kitchen and other amenities that you would expect to be included at this price point. If you are driving - bring your own supplies.
We did not use the hot tub, sauna, or the media room as there were so many posted prices of what damaging different things would cost if we did use it and something broke (a $30 DVD cost $250 to replace - really?) The seats costs $950 (think basic movie theater seats).
Towels were another treat - think high school gym class or maybe Motel 6 – but cheaper.
Getting to the property was interesting, the house sits on a hill, and the driveway is loose gravel with ruts. The next door neighbors Chevy SUV could not get up drive. We ended up leaving one car at bottom of drive too.
Bottom line : If you don’t mind the constant reminder of signs, and plan on eating out, this is a decent house / cabin that will work for up to 6 people (one bunk bed set is in lower level); this house is fully functional, decent location to hiking / town / other attractions. Note: we have no idea who installed the signs - the re
We enjoyed our stay at Hilltop Hideaway despite a few issues. The cabin was clean and nicely decorated, but we did have to call for light bulbs upon arrival, and then the shower on the third floor leaked water into the second floor bathroom which meant that we couldn't use the shower in that bathroom during our stay. Kind of a bummer.
Otherwise the cabin is very nice and has a lovely view of the mountains.
Espectacular, un excelente fin de semana... Recomendado a propios y ajenos...
The cabin was quite comfortable for us with 3 kids in tow. It was convenient to Gatlinburg and in a quiet 'neighborhood' of other cabins. There were a few things that we think needed to be addressed in order to make it a more enjoyable stay. Our fireplace would not stay lighted. Apparently the previous guest had issues as well. Someone came to repair it but the problem continued. (Contacting the rental company involved a bit of time on hold or leaving messages). While the media room is a great idea and a favorite area for our kids, it only works if you bring your own dvds or make a run to RedBox. At the very least have the ability to watch TV on the projection screen or movies on hand. Or possibly inputs on for the many devices people have now like Apple TV, fire stick, etc... we would consider staying her again with a few improvements.
We loved staying at this cabin. It was very clean and the family loved using the theatre room, pool table, hot tub and sauna. It was our mini spa! Would definitely stay here again. The only issue we had (and it wasn't really an issue) was the pilot light would not stay lit on the fireplace so we didn't get to use it.
Really nice and relaxing experience. Wish we had splurged for a pool but overall was in love with everything
The cabin was excellent and exactly as described!! We enjoyed our stay
Gorgeous views, clean and well maintained, very close to the attractions, easy check in and check out process.I would recommend this place to everyone who either wants to stay and relax on the porch or go out and explore beautiful mountains.
Enjoyed time in smoky mountains. Quiet location away from hustle & bustle loved the 3 level cabin. Lots of space for family fun. Bring DVDs for movie theatre. Very nice cabin up on a hill some light bulbs were out parts of kitchen floor squeaked & appeared sticky. Anything you forget can get at food city 10 minutes into town
Just wish that we could have more of the view of the Mountains from are cabin.
The cabin was great! Perfect location to town & activities. The view of the mountains from the cabin was gorgeous. The 3 bedrooms on separate floors worked out fabulous and we loved the theatre room! We did white water rafting, ziplining, different hikes in the mountains, restaurants in Gatlinburg. So much fun for all!
This was our 2nd stay with Elk Springs. We will continue to use this company when we visit Gatlinburg. A few things broke but they fixed right away. Sauna was useless to us because it was a dry sauna, air was way to dry. Great theater and very clean.
Elk Springs resort is top notch. The cabins are lovely and very well maintained, inside and out.
The cabin was super clean, which to me besides location is the top requirement. I was pleasantly surprised.
The one issue we had is that we couldn't get the home theater system to work. Some written instructions as to how to use this system would have been nice.
There is lots to do in Gatlinburg and it's the best hiking vacation we have ever done; countless of incredibly beautiful hiking trails in the area. Most very challenging.
This was our second time in Gatlinburg and we will definitely be back. We also definitely will use Elk Springs Resort again at that time.
Nothing worked as it should from the front door that was like a rocket science project to lock to the Home theater room that played movies with no sound (what was the point???). The "customer service reps" were 100% no help 100% of the time (cannot stress that enough), from the beginning of the process they were unpleasant and unnecessarily difficult. The location was miserable from being up a gravel hill that was a nightmare to drive up in the pouring rain to being located in a desolate place where all the roads leading back to civilization were treacherous to drive-- and in all those nonsensical emails mgmt sent, not one mention of this, well, that's an imp. thing to mention!! The noisy neighbors with their motorcycle gang and dogs were ridiculous and it sure didn't help to have no drapes/curtains in the livingroom, never heard of such. The cleaning people cleaned minimally, the linen was old and full of lint, the plates and glassware were not clean and they had the nerve to leave an envelope for a tip as if enough wasn't paid already for this miserable experience. So, no, I would not recommend this place to anyone.
We didn't realize that you could only park at the bottom level of this cabin and had to carry luggage and groceries up to the main level. The 2 master bedrooms both had incredibly hard mattresses (and we like a very firm mattress) however, these were hard as rocks so were very uncomfortable to sleep in. We picked this cabin for the theatre room (which we were unable to use the first night due to some wiring issues that were fixed the 2nd day), and the hot tub, Jacuzzi's and sauna. The hot tub never got "hot" like it was supposed to be so we never used it. Tried one of the identical Jacuzzi's and found it dangerous to get in and out of (normally, a Jacuzzi has a handle near by for safety reasons), therefore, it was only used the one time. Tried to use the sauna and it also didn't get as hot as a sauna should. Overall, it was a nice place but the execution of the amenities was a fail.
This cabin was absolutely AMAZING!! I brought my children to Gatlinburg for a mini family getaway & they enjoyed themselves so much in the cabin itself!! Very clean, provided everything we needed, and just beautiful. I would absolutely attend this resort again ?? Thank you.
The cabin was really nice. Great location. It was clean for the most part. Loved having a washer and dryer. Cons: The dishwasher door was broken so loading the dishwasher was a pain. The jacuzzi was really nice but the water got cloudy by the 3rd day. I think it needed to get shocked. I think it would be nice if a little booster/high chair was available for families with little ones.
3 couples, from our church, enjoyed marriage dvds, fun, and fellowship. The home theater room was awesome, and the hot tub was wonderful with a view of Mount LeConte. We enjoyed the pool table, and the open kitchen, dining, and living space was a perfect place to cook, play games, and sit by the fire. Also, the customer service was better than any place I have stayed before. We had two problems that were quickly taken care of by the maintenance staff too.
Cabin was super clean and features were plenty like home theatre, hot spa, dry Sona room, pool table, large bunk bed, etc. We enjoyed our stay and kids had real fun. Location was very close to art and craft community and 15 min away from downtown in secluded area. We knew what we signed up when we chose in Elk resort community. If you are looking for an adventurous cabin stay with no cabin around you with fantastic mountain view, look elsewhere not here.
Seven of us spent a week at Hilltop Hideaway and had an amazing time. The amenities of the house added to our mountain experience. The view was amazing and the staff couldn't be more helpful. We had some issues with bugs and an exterminator was sent out that same day. Our only complaints - and they are minor- are that we could have used more towels and additional paper towel and dishwasher detergent. This was the only rental property we've stayed at that was lacking both. In addition to needing some new carpet, the house was great.
On a recent trip to the Smoky Mountains, we stayed at Elks Springs Resort's Hilltop Hideaway cabin. Their warning as you entered the resort: "You may not want to leave!" Truer words were never spoken. My first impression was that the cabin was very clean. My family of six stayed in this 10-person cabin. We had plenty of room. It had three floors and provided an excellent view of the Smokies, especially from the third floor. This would be a big plus during the seasons when there is less foliage on the trees. All the starter amenities Elks Springs promised were there. This conveniently got us through the first day as we got settled. I liked the fact, too, that it was away from the city, that it gave us that cabin feel throughout our stay. Since we are big on arts and crafts I appreciated the cabin being right in the middle of the Arts and Crafts community. On our first day there, the management gave us a courtesy call to assure that everything was fine. After spending our days taking in the Smokies, we looked forward to coming back and doing some relaxing. This was the perfect place to do it. We took advantage of the hot tub, home theater room, sauna, and pool table. Everything satisfied our needs although the home theater system may need a little upgrade to allow something more than just showing movies. All in all, I was very pleased with our cabin. Kudos to Elk Springs for providing an excellent place to stay. Would I recommend this property to a friend or relative? Absolutely!
The cabin was very nice, a little hard to get to in the snow. Layout was good, kids room was on the first floor which was a bit colder than the rest of the house. Only complaints were the hot tub was not cleaned off and we had to clear off the snow to get in, and the movie room was not the same one pictured. Enjoyed the cabin, the pool table, the grill, hot tub was awesome once we got in it. All around great stay. Sound travels extremely well in this cabin though! Thin walls!
We arrived when it was dark and it was very difficult to find the cabin. An actual address to our cabin as opposed to the resort entrance would have been nice. We just kept pausing outside each cabin trying to find the name of our rental.
The only problem worth noting was that the heating in the unit was very unbalanced. The basement bedroom was frigid, but the top floor bedroom was roasting. At the risk of sounding like Goldilocks, the main floor bedroom was just right. Bring extra blankets for the basement dwellers. There was a 15 degree difference between the basement at 63 and the top floor at 78 degrees.
The views were spectacular and the cabin was comfortable. We loved having our Thanksgiving dinner overlooking the mountains.
There are only 5 movie theater seats unlike the photo so we had to pull in a regular chair when we wanted to watch a movie together.
If you plan on doing serious cooking, you probably will want to bring some of your own gadgets. The kitchen is appointed with the basics, but for example the biggest pot had no lid and there was only one dish that could go in the microwave.
Hilltop Hideaway was nice, but based on the amount of money we paid to stay there, I was disappointed. When we first arrived, we notified the main office right away that one of our toilets did not flush properly, and the hot tub was leaking. Repair persons came within a couple hours, but they both basically said there was nothing they could do right away and we would have to live with it. Living with a toilet that will not flush for four nights was not something I was really happy about. Also, not a big deal, but the middle drawer in the master bedroom dresser was missing. It just added to our impression that this was *not* a luxury cabin and details were not important to the staff. Finally, the TVs in every room seemed quite small for the spaces (except for the theater room of course).
On the plus side, the beds were very comfortable, the location was convenient to Gatlinburg, and the cabin was generally clean. The showers were also awesome. Our kids enjoyed the pool table in the loft, but I would recommend a cabin with the pool table on the bottom floor. Every time they dropped a pool cue or a ball went off the table, it was extremely loud throughout the rest of the house. The kids also enjoyed the theater room.
All in all, it was a nice cabin, but for the price, I expected much more. If we ever come back to the area, I will probably look for another resort.
I felt that the property was slightly misrepresented. I did not consider it "luxury". The linens need to be upgraded, and the beds were very sloppily made. It was a very nice cabin, and could easily be made more "luxurious" with a few added amenities and thorough cleaning, including the furniture.
We stayed at Rascals Retreat last time and it was great. The Hilltop Hideaway left something to be desired. When we first arrived there was urine on the downstairs toilet seat and hair in the shower. In the daylight you could see dust and hair along all the corners and walls out to about 2" from the wall. It appears they only clean the main floors and not along the edges. There were white stains on 3 of the blankets and more hair on the comforter. (I am hoping it was just soap that didn't get rinsed off.) The washing machine only worked for 2 loads of clothes and then quit working and the dishwasher was the loudest one I had ever heard. I also wish we would have asked for a floor plan. With 2 children under 3 there is a lot of packing. The main living area is on the second floor so everything had to be carried up and down the stairs. It wasn't all negative though. The view was nice and it was a quiet stay. Overall if it had been clean we would have been okay with everything else. I would have mentioned these problems to management and I would have hoped they would have taken care of them. Unfortunately my wife took the calls from Elk Springs and she didn't want to complain.
Excellent place for a family vacation! It was a beautiful, quiet location with a great view. We enjoyed every moment. Our only issue was with what we thought to be tiny centipedes that appeared on the deck and in bathrooms. I am sure this was just an issue in wooded areas.
The house was everything we wanted, ages 4 to 64! Our group of 40 chose this resort because of the multiple houses within close proximity. The beds were very comfortable; we made every use of the hot tub, sauna, Jacuzzi, theater room, and porch. The staff was prompt with requests. Would love to return and just spend more time at Hilltop Hideaway. We loved it. Cozy yet spacious.
First off, I was very dissatisfied with the view. I was under the impression that it would have a great view and it did not. As far as the cleanliness...someone had written their name in the accumulating dust that has been left for some obvious time now being that they can write "Kevin" in it. There also could have been more attention paid to the cleaning of the tub/ shower in the upstairs bathroom. There were cobb webs on the ceiling in the shower and hair in the tub. Also, the shams on the pillows in the bedroom had "drool" stains on them. Can they not be washed?! We just threw them to the side. With that said, the overall cleanliness of the cabin was good. We didn't feel disgusted, just a little concerned; seeing all the dust and such it made you wonder what was actually clean. Definitely could use a good "spring cleaning". My thought is if you're collecting a cleaning fee with every visit you would think it would be spotless or at least very close to it.
The people at the resort were very professional and easy to work with. The resort itself is about 10 - 15 minutes from the main strip in Gatlinburg. You drive through the Art and Crafts area which is interesting.
Overall, the stay at the cabin was good. We all had a good time. I would go back to this resort but I will pay close attention to the pictures to try and get a better idea of the views. I will also bring along a bottle of Clorox spray and Swiffer as well. :)
The cabin was just as good as the pictures make it seem. Wonderful getaway spot.
We had a nice relaxing weekend. The shopping was good and the location was great.
