Nice little Condo/townhome and closer to Lake Tahoe than we thought :) The unit was perfect for our family get away (5 adults). We didn't use the Rec Hall, but my husband and I both commented on how nice that would have been when our boys were younger. Speaking of younger children, the stairs would be a worry for toddlers, no more than any other stairs - I am just making that note.
We enjoyed having a grill. The kitchen was well stocked for a vacation rental. The beds were comfy and there were plenty of blankets. The only thing missing were matches or a lighter for the fireplace; but we came up with a work around :)
All around great little place. We would stay again

Property was clean. Management was great.

Most dissapointed by the fact that the hot tub was broken for most of our stay and the staff was unfriendly.

BEAUTIFUL PLACE TO ENJOY FAMILY VACATION. EVERYTHING WAS ADAPTED FOR US TO SPEND AN AMAZING AND RELAXING TIME. CLEAN, WARM AND COMFORTABLE BEDS.

My husband and I spent 6 nights in the condo and loved our time there. The condo has everything needed for that "home away from home" feeling. No wifi, which was a drag as we had no phone signal (darned Sprint!) We did have trouble with the gas bbq, so were unable to grill - oh well, guess we'll have dinner out tonight! It is less than a 1/2 mile to the beach (wear swim shoes for the rocks), and close to both Kings Beach and Tahoe City. Make sure to eat at the Old Post Office at least once - great crab cakes bennie. We will definitely be back!

The condo is in a great location, close to the lake, close to Tahoe City. The only draw back was, upstairs room is very hot, not much airflow, and the trees continually dropped things onto the metal roof which made it a bit difficult to sleep. Over all pretty comfortable.

Great location with all the amenities. Carnelian Bay is ideal for us and our interests. There is a nice dog beach down the street from the condo and nice little cafe. The cafe also has water sports rentals. The condo complex was great, amazing pool, hot tubs, rec room, bocce, volleyball, tennis, has it all. The condo is dated, but served the purpose. Some minor updates would make this condo support the rest of the area and environment.

For the price I would have expected WIFI and clean walls. But for a last minute trip it accommodated our family.

Pros: This unit was very comfortable and clean with a great location. The pool was fantastic. Beds very comfortable.
Cons: BBQ propane ran out before could cook our dinner so were disappointed. TV didn't work properly. We called the management and they were very professional and helpful, telling us that the propane worked when they checked it (it's the size of a camping one). They sent a TV person out to fix the TV but then only got 1 station on the main TV, no reception on the upstairs, full reception on the tiny TV in the downstairs front one. Overall, a bit of a hassle and disappointment during our 3 day stay.

Had a great time in this condo, it was everything we needed. However, my teenage son did laugh at how old and small the TV's are.

This condo worked out very well for our small group (3 people). We especially appreciated the proximity to the parking area. Beds were good, living room was comfortable and the kitchen was adequately equipped. The only objection we had was that it was impossible to turn the heater off. Just when the loft cooled down at night the heater kicked in!

Had a great time with the family at this place. Spacious, beautiful, comfortable, and memorable. I'd be willing to return and stay there. My only suggestion is to not get there at night when there is no light, because it was very hard to find the condos. It took us nearly an hour and we needed to ask neighbors for help, but they were very friendly. Other than that everything was perfect.

We were a group of 4 adults and a baby and the unit for us was spacious and comfortable, nicely located a short walk from the lake. If I had to complain it would be the lack of in unit amenities (e.g., no hot tub), older furniture, and the small outdated TV.

After staying at a number of condos at Carnelian Woods, we booked #45 as the price was right. However, unlike the other properties, this condo didn't appear to be owner-occupied - it was clean and functional but just didn't feel lived in, as if it were just a large hotel room. Kitchen could use an update, particularly the dishwasher. Don't get me wrong, experience was satisfactory, but not as nice as some of the units. We agreed as a group that if we stayed at Carnelian Woods again we would pay attention more to the unit pictures.
There were many areas that needed immediate attention and others that need to be attended to for a better long-term environment. Some of the immediate needs included the dishwasher which was broken and not repaired until the 5th day of a 10 day stay. Upper bedroom blinds fell off the same window twice, electrical outlet in bathroom had a short, deck screen door a bit rough, deck furniture worn out, propane tank nearly empty, kitchen fry pans and tea pot need replacing, and a kitchen utensil drawer needs repair to keep it and contents from falling on floor. A broom and mop are also needed. Another suggestions is to use less scented fabric softener on the bedroom sheets as they had extreme fragrance making their use a problem. As well, the lower bedroom closet was so full of extra bedding there was no room for occupant use, and the doors were jammed. The living room could use a ceiling fan, upstairs could use full length mirrors. In addition, a
Wi-Fi connection for this unit would be greatly appreciated. These and some other issues were reported to the property manager and, where possible, they were attended to in a timely manner. Other issues were left for later consideration. My friends and I do like this condo's location and have stayed here before. However, this time we were disappointed in the various details that created a less than ideal atmosphere. Most of the issues can be easily remedied. A little TLC along the way can save long lists of problems needing attention when guests arrive. We hope that this will be taken into account before other guests are inconvenienced. Next year I will most likely
be renting a condo in Carnelian Woods again. If this one is refreshed, it would be a first choice as the floor plan, general furnishings and location are a good match.
We have stayed at Carnelian Woods for the past 4 summers in different homes, and this property was one of the best. Very well kept and maintained. Would def stay here again.
The title defines this condo, figuratively and literally. This condo has so much potential but did not deliver. The condo provided six beds and two baths but not much more.
The condo has a very small hot water heater so you need to pace your showers, dish washing and laundry. The kitchen has minimal utensils. It could benefit from a spatula. Toss the tea pot as the enamel on the interior is chipping off. Speaking of chips, toss the chipped plates too. Cooking in the condo reminded me of camping.
The condo could benefit from a good scrubbing. Clean the splattered food from wall behind the stove. Clean the carpets. Clean the food from the pots and pans. Better yet, replace the pots and pans as they have seen their better days.
I recommend that a light bulb be added to the empty socket in the closet and replace the burnt out bulb above the shower.
This condo does not have WIFI which was tough for two teenagers. The management actually recommended we log into the neighbor’s WIFI.
The condo does have a few games but bring your own dice as Yahtzee doesn’t have any.
The place was clean and cozy with a great location. Perfect for a ski or summer vacation!
This unit was very comfortable. There are lots of places to unpack, a layout that worked well for us with small kids, a well-stocked kitchen (with dishes/pots,etc.) and the location is amazing. Like most of the units we've stayed in, there are not enough outlets for the modern world, and not enough lighting, so the bedroom especially was pretty dark.
Overall the property was good with in near to the lake Tahoe and Cozy. Electrical lights near the dinning area and living room weren't functioning. Need to fix them. There is no WiFi and out dated television sets. Please improve them
Came here for a ski trip with wife and two other families. A total of six people.
First one should know they give out only two parking permits. Any additional cars can park at the rec center. In retrospect, it looked fine to park there at the rec center. Not many cars there. But we didn't know. And we were arriving around mid-night. To avoid any complications, the other two families carpooled in a hatchback.
The heater was really noisy. My wife and I stayed in the downstairs bedroom. When the heater was on, we felt strong warm air coming into the room and it was dry. The fan in the bathroom next to our room was too loud. Sounded almost like the garbage disposal. Image at night when we have to go to the bathroom.
The kitchen was OK. The appliances were working. The dining area was good enough for us.
It doesn't have WiFi at this unit. The description was clear. For someone who always had WiFi at vacation rental properties, it was easy to miss it.
Exceeded expectations '! Will comeback soon '!!'l
Location ideal, plenty to do within a 10 min drive or less. Not in walking distance to the beach. Could do with some upgrading of appliances and décor. Kitchen garbage can way to small.Staff communication great!
It had been great to spend time with my family there, the house was great, have everything we needed.
The unit we rented was nice, nothing spectacular. Very comfortable for 5 on a skiing weekend, but a bit of a drive to the slopes at Boreal. Kitchen amenities were lacking and the manager at the office didn't expect us. Other than that it was pretty much as expected. Reasonable rate. Clean, comfortable condo. Proximity to the lake which is always fabulous. 3.5 stars
Carnelian Bay's North Lake Tahoe location makes for a great, quiet getway. Close to the casinos of North Lake Tahoe, public beaches, paddleboarding, kayaking, and more, this location has it all no matter what the season. Family-friendly skiing and snowboarding is close by at Northstar Ski Resort. But you're also right on the lake in Carnelian Bay. Rent kayaks or canoes, or a boat, and hit the lake. Or just sit at the beach and sunbathe or read a book. You can rent Jet skis too, or parasail or wind surf - fishing is also very popular as well. You can pay for a tour or just rent some gear and a boat and hit the lake. Magic Carpet Golf offers some great mini golf and Commons Beach is probably the most popular beach in the area, offering a beautiful view and great swimming conditions.
